I'm not one to shy away from a colourful combo. If given the choice of monochrome or a vibrant ensble, it would take something very special to convince me to choose the latter. This outfit is definitely one of those 'special' exceptions.
In fashion terms, my weaknesses tend to include vibrant graphic placement prints, loose fitting and / or crisp button down shirts, skater skirts and block heeled shoes. This outfit combines two of these styles in a look that I absolutely love, thanks to the online shopping destination Stylemology. Stocking a selection of unique up & coming labels and creating key trend lookbooks which are available to shop through the website, Stylemology makes the task of creating globally on-trend looks easy.
Teaming a high-waisted flared or skater skirt with a loose-fitting top is always a good idea. It accentuates your waist (even if you tend to feel this isn't one of your 'best' areas) and creates the coveted hourglass silhouette. For girls like myself who have quite androgynous figures, this is a ridiculously easy way of creating the illusion of a more curvy shape (because there are times when all of us want to look more 'womanly'; and there's only so much a padded bra can do). The combination of a loose-fitting top with a feminine skirt and pair of block heel ankle boots gives the look instant street appeal. A perfectly mis-matched outfit doesn't always have to mean clashing prints; combining opposite style elements can do the same without making such a graphic statement.
Last but not least, try to tie the colours together in at least two pieces of your outfit; so that you have some form of continuation through your look. I've paired black croc-embossed leather in both my boots and handbag, which creates a grounded ensemble (if every piece is a different colour there is too much going on, and your outfit will look too 'busy').
